Our insurance has you covered

Become a member of Pedal Power ACT and you’ll have the peace of mind knowing that you are fully covered by our insurance anytime and anywhere you ride — in the ACT, Australia and overseas. Our insurance covers you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, anywhere in the world.

Our insurance DOES NOT cover racing or competitions unless run by Pedal Power.

Our policy provides you with:

  • Personal Accident Insurance (including death and permanent injury, non-medicare medical expenses, loss of income and student tutorial benefit)

  • up to $5,000,000 Public Liability Insurance

Coverage commences from the time we receive your membership payment and ceases at 11.59pm on the day it expires, so renew your membership on time to ensure you remain covered!

If you are a Pedal Power member and have been in an accident, download and complete a Personal Injury claim form or a liability claim form and return to us with supporting documentation.


What do I do if I am in a crash?

If you are involved in a collision, you should take as many of these actions as you can to assist with any claim you may make:

  • Call police from the scene on 13 1444, or 000 in a life-threatening emergency.

  • If safe to do so, obtain the other party’s name and address. If a motor vehicle is involved, get the driver’s name and insurance details, and the registration number, make, and model.

  • Ask for names, telephone numbers and addresses of any witnesses.

  • Ask witnesses to describe the other party, and how they think the crash occurred. Take notes.

  • Take photographs of the site of the crash.

  • When notifying police, we advise you to contact Traffic Operations.

  • Be diligent about reporting all the details of the incident,

  • Keep the submission ID number and the date you submitted the report. Make a copy of any information you provide.

  • Keep any damaged clothing and bike parts. Try to obtain a written assessment of the condition and replacement cost of any damaged items.

  • If you are injured, see a doctor and photograph any visible injuries.

  • If you incur any expenses as a direct result of the crash, keep a full record including any receipts.
